Description

A group of men, some standing and some on horseback, wait to cross a river during the Biltmore Forest Festival. The Festival was held on the Biltmore Estate in 1908 and hosted by Dr. Schenck, who invited foresters, industry professionals, and any interested lay persons from across the South to attend the festivities. Men on horseback forded the river while men who rode in carriages took a ferry. The line running horizontally across the image is the line used to guide the ferry across the river.
