Description

This photograph of Hayden Hensley with several carving blanks was taken by Doris Ulmann when she came to Brasstown, N.C. in 1933 or1934. Hensley was one of the first woodcarvers trained at the John C. Campbell Folk School, participating in the woodcarving cooperative that later came to be known as the Brasstown Carvers.
