Description

Hayden Hensley and wife, Bonnie Logan Hensley, were some of the first students and woodcarvers at the John C. Campbell Folk School. They sold their work through the school's woodcarving cooperative that became known as the Brasstown Carvers. This photograph shows them in later years, around 1960, carving on the porch of their home. Carving provided them enough supplemental income to be able to purchase this home, which they referred to as "the house that carving built."
