Description
This fragment of a woolen shawl was hand woven by America Gahagan Brigman probably prior to 1890. Brigman lived in the Allen Creek community in Madison County, N.C., close to where Frances Goodrich served as a Presbyterian missionary and founded Allanstand Cottage Industries. The plaid is done in shades of natural, rust, and blue in a twill weave. The fragment is in poor condition.
