Description

This letter from September 21, 1924, finds George Washington Carver writing to Mrs. Henry (Margaret Gillespie) Slagle. He shares a Christian inspirational poem entitled "Others," which encourages the reader to live selflessly and pursue the good of others above his or her own; his sharing of the poem is motivated by his perception of Mrs. Slagle and her husband and how their attitudes are reflected in their son, Thomas (Dick). In closing, Carver asks Mrs. Slagle to pray for him that his character might reflect Christ's, and he offers his hopes that God will bless her and her family.
