Description
In the opening story, “Mountain Statistics and Mountain Laurel,” Amy describes the mountains of Appalachia and her fond memories of growing up among them, followed by “Smoky Mountain Memories” from Tuckasegee’s Betty Collins Brown. On Creative Corner, Doreyl returns to Stecoah to interview Oliver Frady and Sue Bullock, two Graham County JAM instructors; “Last Day at Gettysburg” performed by the Leftovers (a bluegrass band formed by JAM instructors) closes the segment. Amy’s guest, Baxter Wood, describes his childhood on Caney Fork and the devastating effects of the 1940 flood; Milan Miller’s "The Flood of 1940" closes the interview. On Apple Butter, Nicole interviews Sylvia Lyday Goforth, who shares memories of her childhood in Bryson City and her father’s recollections of the 1940 flood; "Bow Down" by Dirk Powell and Tim O'Brien follows the interview. On Down Another Road, Judy spends time with Sheila Kay Adams, discussing her music and her book, My Old True Love; Adams’ song "My Dearest Dear" closes the segment. Mountain Faith ends the show with “Old Time Religion.”
