Description

The show opens with Amy’s story “Getting Filled Up,” in which she shares some of her childhood memories and how she started writing about her family heritage. The story is accompanied by “Desperado.” On Creative Corner, Doreyl talks with Jenny McPherson, manager of the Jackson County Farmer’s Market. The two of them talk about the Sylva Sprouts Seed Lending Library, the importance of saving seeds, benefits the farmer’s market provides to local farmers and what kinds of produce the market offers. “Watermelon Hangin’ on the Vine” by the Company Store follows the interview. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Elizabeth Burns Cook, owner of Smokemont Riding Stable, located within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. She talks about operating the stable and the activities offered to visitors of the park. She also talks about the Oconaluftee Turnpike road, as well as some of the other sites of interest in the Smokemont community. The interview is followed by “Get Along, Little Dog
