Description

The show begins with Amy’s story “Stella Dallas” about her memories of her mother listening to daytime radio programs such as Stella Dallas. She also relates how Stories of Mountain Folk began. “Only You” accompanies the story. Doreyl’s guest on Creative Corner is Joyce Jenkins, who talks about her experiences growing up in Stecoah and some of her family history. “Hometown Blues” by the Blue Ridge Rounders follows the interview. On Stories of Mountain Folk, Amy continues her conversation with Bernice “Bud” Higdon, with contributions from Bernice’s daughter Krista. This week Bernice shares some stories of her life in the mountains as well as some stories from her travels to 41 countries and her perspective on changes she has seen. The interview is followed by “Ruthie’s Old Stories” by the Valley River Boys. On This Is My Home, Joe talks with Tom Davis, who shares some of his memories of growing up in Sylva in a segment commemorating the 125th anniversary of the town. “Old Friend" by Terry Edwards follows the interview. On Down Another Road, Judy talks with Joseph Bly of Asheville, who talks about his experiences in the Marines, his work as an emcee for cultural events and his philanthropic endeavors. "Three Men on a Mountain" by Mountain Faith follows the interview, and the show closes with "Life's Railway to heaven" by Appalachian Fire.
