Description

Amy opens the show with “Yummmm…Apple Butter,” in which she remembers her family making apple butter and describes how to make apple butter using traditional methods. “My Soul Follows Hard After Thee” accompanies the story. On Creative Corner, Doreyl talks with Betty Penland, who spent 36 years with the Macon County extension service and shares some stories about her work and how the service worked directly with people. “Whoa Mule” by Jacob Jones follows the interview. On Stories of Mountain Folk, Amy continues her talk with Jean Childers, who continues to discuss her involvement with the extension service in Haywood County and around western North Carolina. The interview is followed by “Little Black Dog” by Andrews & Lawrence. Joe’s guest on This Is My Home is Mark Stein, who recently moved to Jackson County and gives his impressions of the area. Joe also briefly discusses some of the history of the area. “Hog Chase” follows the interview. Judy’s guest on Down Another Road is her mother, Arbie Cook Rhodes, who talks about a traumatic incident that happened when she was 12 years old. “Rejoice” by the Inspirations follows the interview, and “The Old Home Place” by J.D. Crowe ends the interview.
