Description
The show begins with Amy’s story of her early married life, “The Little Blue Valiant”, recalling how she became more independent. Background music is “Here Comes the Sun” played on acoustic guitar. On Creative Corner, Doreyl welcomes Conrad Burrell once again. He talks about the Jackson County flood of 1940, the devastation it caused and the help his family received from neighbors and the community. The interview is followed by “The Flood of 1940” by Buddy Melton, Milan Miller and Mark Winchester. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Susan Hirsch from Macon County. Susan tells the story of Cherokee Chief Rabbit and his friendship with her great-great grandfather. “Cherokee Morning Song” by Robbie Robertson follows the segment. On Let Us March On, Mary Sue Casey interviews Bishop Adam West from Macon County. He talks about his early careers, being drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War, and then called into the ministry. The interview is followed by “I Got Shoes” by Clara Ward. Judy continues her conversation with David “Pooch” Massie on Down Another Road. David shares some of the history of his great-great grandfather’s life and his relationship to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. “The Peaceful Pigeon River” by Richard Hurley follows the segment. The show concludes with “John Henry” by Henry Queen.
