Description

The show begins with Amy’s story “Mountain Grit” recalling another episode in her early married life. “Circle” played on acoustic guitar is the background music. On Creative Corner, Doreyl interviews bluegrass musicians Jonah & Grayson Riddle, who talk about how they got their start and their musical influences. Their group “Carolina Express” includes their father and grandfather. The interview is followed by “Ride This Train” by Appalachian Fire. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Ellen Moss Bryson. She talks about growing up in the mountains on Pine Creek in Glenville, and shares some of her family history. “Down an Old Dirt Road” by Andrews and Lawrence follows the segment. On Stories of the Cherokee, Shawn Crowe shares the story of “Tobacco” and how it was used by the Cherokee. Flute music provided by Matthew Tooni. On Down Another Road, a reprisal from October 19, 2013 is broadcast. Judy’s guest is Joe Penland from Madison County. He talks about learning to sing ballads and his desire to leave that heritage to his children. At the conclusion of the interview, Joe sings “Pretty Saro.” The show closes with “Meeting in the Air” by the Cockman Family.
