Description

Amy’s story about her early married life “My Greatest Fear” opens the show. Accompanying music “Edelweiss” by Jo Northup and Richard Birt. On Creative Corner, Doreyl interviews Connie Hogan from Dillsboro. The two discuss the festivals offered in Dillsboro as well as the variety of arts and crafts that have been on display. “Hey Good Looking” by the Whitewater Bluegrass Co. follows the interview. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Barbara Sears McRae from Franklin. Barbara shares how she and her husband came to Franklin, her work interviewing local people for the Franklin Press and how her interest in local history resulted in published works. Following the segment is “Shady Grove” by Clover. On This is My Home, Joe welcomes Ruth Truett, a weaver at John C. Campbell Folk School. They talk about some of the school’s history and the upcoming “Shaker” weekend at the school. “Smith’s Reel” by the McDowell Family follows the interview. On Down Another Road, Judy tells a “Jack Tale”—“How Jack Outsmarted the Devil.” The segment is followed by “Cotton’eyed Joe/Breakin’ Up Christmas” by Lois Hornbostel. The show concludes with the Cherokee National Youth Choir singing “Beautiful Home” in Cherokee.
