Description
W.G. Davis, a Work Unit Conservationist, uses his hat to show the height of sorghum grass in an experimental plot on Ed Floyd’s farm. This is the first field seeded in the district, 4 miles east of Bryson City. This photo is from the Tuckaseigee Soil & Water Conservation District, which was formed in western North Carolina in 1957 and became the Swain Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) in 1982. The Swain SWCD’s mission is to provide for a quality environment and higher standard of living while protecting natural resources. The Swain SWCD photographs capture various SWCD projects throughout Swain, Jackson, Graham, Haywood, and surrounding counties in western North Carolina.
